In the late 19th century, Denver’s population boomed. Poor air quality sent wealthy residents out of city proper to Capitol Hill; the middle class followed once cable car lines extending east of downtown made the area more accessible. Homes sprouted up along Colfax, the main route to get downtown. Then referred to as “Capitol Heights,” Congress Park was annexed into the city in 1889 and developed over the next 35 years. The neighborhood is directly south of City Park and smack dab in the middle of Denver. Charming Congress Park offers a multitude of dining, recreation, and attractions. This hood sits just three miles from downtown and within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens, Cheesman Park, Cherry Creek, and East Colfax. Residents enjoy tree-lined streets, bike- and walkability, and neighborhood farmers’ markets.

Congress Park named after it’s counterpart in the Denver Parks System is located just to the east of the Denver Botanical Gardens and west of Colorado Blvd. Getting to and from the neighborhood is a breeze as there are several north/south and east/west roads cutting though the neighborhood. Don’t let that fool you, most of the streets are lazy, tree lined streets meant for those with a desinantion in this amazing neighborhood. This is a great neighborhood to poke around in the fall to watch the many colors the neighborhoods trees have to offer.
