City Park is the home of Denver’s largest park. The park comprises the majority of the neighborhood, leaving only 46 city blocks of residential space — one of the smallest in the city. While it may be small geographically, City Park neighborhood offers a ton to do! City Park has so much to offer, whether it’s an event at City Park, retail and restaurants on Colfax Ave, visiting the Denver Zoo, or exploring the Nature and Science Museum!

With 4,362 people per square mile, City Park is the 64th most densely populated neighborhood in Denver.
Stretching one mile long, ¾ of a mile wide, and spanning 330 acres, City Park makes up the vast majority of the east-central Denver neighborhood of City Park. The park was built in 1880 and is home to the Denver Zoo, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Ferril and Duck Lakes, a boathouse, historical monuments, playgrounds, and sporting facilities. The park boundaries are: York Street to the west, 23rd Avenue to the north, Colorado Boulevard to the east, and 17th Avenue to the south. The neighborhood extends two blocks further south to Colfax, making the entire residential portion of the neighborhood only two blocks wide and one mile long! The eastern part of this neighborhood is also known as the Bluebird District, named after the theater on Colfax.
Just as the name implies, this is our City’s Park. In fact, City Park is the largest outdoor space to play in Denver. It is home to the Denver Nature and Science Museum, and the Denver Zoo. The City Park public golf course runs along the northern border and offers incredible views of downtown and the mountains. Not only does this neighborhood have access to great outdoor spaces, but its southern border is Colfax Avenue which doesn’t disappoint when it comes to entertainment and dining!
While the only park for humans in the neighborhood is City Park, it has everything you could hope for in an urban park and then some.
