A blend of old and new, Highland is one of Denver’s most sought after neighborhoods. With its captivating history, charming architecture, and upbeat, fresh energy, there’s no question why. When pedestrian bridges were built, connecting this hood to LoDo, Highland began its transformation from a peaceful northern hood to today’s modern hotspot for foodies and young families alike. Dotting almost every block, Highland’s elegant Victorian homes point to the area’s not-so-humble beginnings as a refuge for Denver’s elite (nestled high above the scurry of downtown Denver). Today, this hood boasts a smattering of modern homes and new apartment buildings, making Highland an ever-enticing destination for Denver residents and tourists alike.
Reasons to love Highland
Perched on a hill, Highland offers an amazing view of Denver's Downtown skyline.
Tons of dining and entertainment options, especially near Central Avenue in LoHi.
Access! Hop on the interstate to head to the mountains, Tech Center, DIA, or Boulder!
17TH
With 9,008 people per square mile, Highland is the 17th most densely populated neighborhood in Denver.
Overlooking Denver’s amazing skyline, Highland is a quick walk across one of three bridges to the Union Station neighborhood. All the great dining and entertainment options keep many residents close to home. Easy access to Denver’s interstate system makes Highland a popular choice for commuters and those that love a quick getaway to the mountains.
The heart of the dining and entertainment scene is in the Lower Highland (LoHi) area of the neighborhood, with the most concentrated number of establishments on Boulder Street. One of the most popular restaurants in the hood can be found at night by looking for the large Olinger sign. You will notice the O is never lit as the current, more lively tenant, Linger had no need for the old mortuary’s use of the 15th letter in our alphabet.
Highland is a riverfront neighborhood with multiple parks along the Platt. Other pocket parks offer sport courts or views of downtown.
